SHIM - Safariland Holster Inset Mod
Alright lads time to throw your zip ties in the bin. Many of today's two-piece belt systems are using a 1.75" outer belt with either a 1.5" or 1.75" inner belt. This is narrower than a traditional 2.25" Police style duty belt for which the Safariland UBL mount was originally made. This results in about half an inch of gap where the holster can move on you as you draw, stopping your sidearm from releasing consistently.
The SHIM fixes this issue by plugging this gap. This allows for a very tight mounting of the holster to the belt, resulting in faster, more consistent draws. The added consistency can make your draw tight enough to run without a holster thigh strap.
Don't know your size? The ADA issued belt and most other belts are 1.75".
Safariland UBL and belts in photos are demonstrative and are not included with the SHIM.

Installation Instructions
- Slide your Safariland UBL onto your belt.
- With the Regent Spear text facing upward, push the SHIM into the gap of your Safariland UBL. This is done from the inside.
- Still have a small gap? Remove the SHIM and install it with the Regent Spear text facing downwards. This should engage an extra 2mm notch on the bottom of the SHIM.
Not all belts 1.75" belts are equal. The SHIM is designed to mount directly to most aftermarket MOLLE style belts with a stiffener. Some belts are more barebones and are not as thick (e.g. ADA). These belts require the SHIM to be installed upside down.
